Soil Scientists bring your ARCPACS card to this workshop. There will be a swipe machine that will document the 10 to 9.5 CEUs for this event.

This year we are proud to feature Dr. Jim Richardson, retired professor of soil science at North Dakota State University, focusing on water movement through soils and landscapes throughout the workshop.

The first day we will have three stops throughout Hancock and Wood Counties where we will discuss topics such as lateral flow, types of aquifers and aquitards, seeps, and hydrophytic vegetation. We will also discuss methods for measuring soil water properties by utilizing tools such as  piezometers and amoozemeters.

At the end of the day, there will be an after-hours gathering at Frank Gibbs’ farm. See the information below for the fun for the evening. Gatherubg attendees are welcome to pitch a tent for the night.

The second day we will start inside and gain knowledge and insight on water movement from Dr. Jim Richardson. We will then travel to Hardin County where we will discuss types of wetlands and flows (recharge, flowthrough and discharge), and soil morphology. We will also discuss wetland habitats and onsite wastewater systems.
